We are a community of mercy, compassion, love and justice: a house of hope, refuge, and peace. Proclaiming the Love and Knowledge of God for all humanity! "This is Eternal Life, that they know you the Only True God." (John 17:3). Hopewell Mennonite Church is a House of Worship, Prayer, and Learning for all Nations. Proclaiming the knowledge and love of the Eternal One for all nations.
Hopewell Mennonite Church was founded in 1981. The House of Worship where we meet was established in 1848 by the Reform German Church. Its painted windows were designed by over 150 artists in Münich, Germany, in the early 1900’s. HMC bought this temple in 1982.
Our congregation is affiliated with the Atlantic Coast Conference of the Mennonite Church USA. Their roots are in the Radical Reformation of the Swiss and Dutch Anabaptists of 1524, in Zürich and Frissia. Three principles, among many other core values, distinguished this reformation of the church: separation of church and state, baptism for adult, and commitment to nonviolence in all human relations.
Our community of faith is very diverse in theology as well as philosophical ideologies and political views. Everyone is welcome at HMC.
